We became a part of the Avondale congregation in 1989. I began working with the education program shortly after coming to Avondale. This included some teaching at the adult level and middle school. Ocie’s initial teaching assignment was pre-school and the 1st grade. She has also taught the teenage girls and is presently one of the assistant teachers in the ladies Bible class. I became a deacon in 1991 and served in that capacity until I was appointed an elder May 8, 1994.

I married Ocie Lewis on June 10, 1967. We have three children: Anthony, Jennifer Miley and Chris; Anthony is married to Quandra, worships at Avondale and they have two children; Jennifer is married to Brian and they worship at Morehead City in Morehead City, NC.

Ocie is a registrar for a middle school in the Gwinnett County School System. I will complete my 39th year with Travelers in May 2008 as a Director in Products & Designs.

I came to Avondale in March 1978 with my parents, Mickey and Sue, and have been worshipping with the Avondale congregation ever since. I was baptized into the Lord’s church in April 1981 at Avondale.

I met my wife, Alison at Avondale and we were married in 1989. Both Alison and I have taught bible classes since 1987. I have 3 children, Mia, Sydnie and Philip. I began serving as a deacon in 1992 and remained in that roll until being appointed an elder in February 2007.

Besides my role as an elder, I have been working as a retail pharmacist for CVS/pharmacy in the Decatur community since 1992. Alison and I have also served as foster parents for Georgia Agape and were able to adopt Mia, our first foster child, from them in 1995.
